The Chamber leads the community in Economic Development and Tourism efforts, holding monthly economic development meetings in conjunction with the City, County, Port, and private businesses as well as maintaining community profile and statistical information. Contracts are maintained with the SE Washington Economic Development Association (SEWEDA) and partners with the City of Dayton and Columbia County to leverage membership dues and event revenue for a stronger organization. The Chamber is also continually active in Main Street Beautification and community development, partnering with the Dayton Development Task Force to maintain the investments made in our town and to implement new projects.
The Chamber maintains an extensive community web site featuring area attractions, recreation information, a community calendar of events, area profile, and membership list. This web site matches member business links with the appropriate page on the web site, giving many members the added benefit of more than one listing on the site. Visitors and potential new residents continue to give the Chamber high praise for the usefulness of our web site.
The Dayton Chamber is responsible for annual events that bring thousands of people to our community: Dayton Days Parade, All Wheels Weekend, and Christmas Kickoff. The Chamber also helps promote five other events in the community: Dayton Days, the Columbia County Fair, and Evening at the Depot, Alumni Weekend and the Historic Home Tours. Besides providing entertainment for the region, events are a way of building traffic in the community, improving our image, and bringing outside dollars into our economy. In addition to these events, the Chamber produces an annual benefit auction, the Blue Mountain Brix & Brew Festival, and an Annual Banquet in which News of the Chamber Year is shared and community awards are presented.
The Dayton Chamber holds quarterly membership meetings and our Board of Director’s meetings are held the first and third Wednesday of each month and are open to members. We welcome you to bring your questions and suggestions to a Board meeting or to the Chamber Director at anytime. We think you’ll find your small financial investment in the Chamber will reap big rewards for the community.
We hope you will consider becoming a member of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce. Our Chamber is working on the “big picture” in trying to improve the health of our region, and your participation would be a great asset.
Please feel free to call me at 382-4825 if you have any questions.
