Dayton is home to the Columbia County Health System which began with the founding of Dayton General Hospital in 1960. The system has expanded to include Columbia Family Clinic, Waitsburg Clinic, and Booker Rest Home, serving primarily the Dayton, Waitsburg, Starbuck communities and the surrounding area.
Dayton General Hospital is a Public Hospital District with 12 in-patient beds, a fully operating Emergency Room, Lab and X-ray facility.
The health clinics, staffed with 4 primary care medical doctors, handle primary care needs 5 days a week. Booker Rest Home is a long term care facility, housing 49 beds with a skilled nursing staff.
